About the event
Taghum Hall invites writers to come out of the garret and into something more convivial on the weekend of February 28 and March 1. Write Off the Bat! is an on-site, theme-based writing marathon, a juried competition (jurying is optional), and a chance to hang with fellow writers—and get fed! The weekend’s supportive environment includes morning pep-talks from celebrated local authors, a delicious lunch each day, plus snacks, coffee and tea, and the chance to get to know other writers, so that writerly conviviality might continue!
Advance registration is required for this in-person, bum-in-seat writing weekend. Participants may write in any discipline, but it must be new writing that responds to the theme, which will be revealed at the start. This year there are two entry levels: one with an option to enter the competition, one simply to write. For competition entrants, length is limited to 2500 words.
