Welcome Home: Kootenay Stories explores ideas of home—the homes we leave, the places we land, and this place we call home—through the eyes and hearts of eighteen participants who by design or happenstance ended up here. This collaborative theatre project took participants—from all backgrounds and origins and with an age range spanning six decades—through fourteen weeks of story development including professional and in-house workshops. The result is as disparate and deep as the humans involved: stories woven together into a new fabric through storytelling, song, dance, poetry, monologue, comedy, skit, and more, to create a collective performance far beyond the sum of its parts.
